10:15 am – 11:00 am – So, You Think You Can CBD…Hemp Derived vs Cannabis Derived CBD and Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum vs. Isolate
In today’s early stages of the legal hemp marketplace, there are thousands of CBD products available, yet not much in the way of differentiation – at least not knowingly in most cases. All legitimate CBD products contain at least some amount of cannabidiol, but they may also contain (or specifically not contain) other elements, depending on how they’re labeled. In this panel, we examine and specifically define the terms relating to this phenomenon: hemp-derived, cannabis-derived, full spectrum, broad spectrum, CBD isolate and more.
11:15 am – 12:00 pm – Medicinal Matriarch: Harnessing the Power of Cannabigerol (CBG)
Cannabinoid creation inside hemp plants begins with cannabigerolic acid, or CBGA. Enzymes inside the plant catalyze chemical reactions, which produce the more common and more abundant cannabinoids in the plant, such as CBD. Not all CBGA, however, metamorphosizes into something else. Thus, researchers are studying what CBGA or its decarboxylated neutral form, CBG, can offer therapeutically. What they’ve unearthed has been extraordinary. One study demonstrated CBG’s ability to inhibit colon cancer growth in mice. Another found that mice given CBG ate more frequently, thus, highlighting the potential of this molecule in future cancer treatments. Additionally, CBG offers a two-pronged attack against physical and mental benefits from relieving one’s pain, and given its action inside of our bodies, this cannabinoid presents an exciting option in treating depression. These examples provide a flavor of what this powerful molecule can do, but as more clinical research continues to unveil its full potential, the true effects on humans will be lucid. This panel is dedicated to this mother of other cannabinoids, not just as a molecular building block, but as an impressive healer.
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm – LUNCH BREAK
12:30 pm – 1:15 pm – Old to Gold: Therapeutic Benefits of Cannabinol (CBN)
In more archaic times, cannabinol, or CBN, was a “freshness” indicator for commercial cannabis products, since tetrahydrocannabinol naturally degrades to this cannabinoid over time. These days, however, we’ve become savvier to reaping the full benefits of the phytomolecules within hemp plants. Growing hemp solely for CBD means there’s going to be abundant waste, not just in the useful, but squandered biomass, but also from not utilizing everything that the plant chemically offers. And like its cannabinoid brethren, CBN imparts therapeutic benefits, the most well-known of which is as a sleeping aid. CBN also has been evaluated as an anti-inflammatory, as an analgesic, and as an appetite stimulant, to name a limited few. This panel is dedicated to illuminating this previously cast aside molecule, bringing it back into the discussion where it always should have been.
1:30 pm – 2:15 pm – THC is a Cannabinoid: Whole Plant Health
Even though this is the CBD expo, the cannabinoid entourage runs deep. For many, THC and adult use or medical marijuana remains the cannabinoid of choice. Understanding how and why THC exerts its benefits on various users is integral to making sense of their cannabis plant, and unlocking its total potential. However, regulatory constraints and consumer ignorance remain a formidable barrier. Whether it’s trace amounts of THC in full spectrum products or low-CBD cultivars, every cannabinoid has a potential effect and every user has a preference. Join our panelists as they explore the role of THC within broader paradigm of cannabinoid health and wellness.
2:30 pm – 3:15 pm – Hemp Flavonoids: More Function than Flavor
This panel will take an in-depth look into the newly explored world of cannabis flavonoids – lesser known chemical components of the plant that are quickly developing into an important element in the future of cannabis research. Panelists will give their expert knowledge in regards to the health benefits and critical applications of flavonoids while also setting the stage for cutting-edge developments in the field. Professional insight into these chemicals and the role they play alongside other elements of the plant provide attendees an advanced glimpse of the future in cannabis research and development as well as forward thinking comprehension into the power of flavonoids.
3:30 pm – 4:15 pm – A Forward Look: The Future of Cannabinoids
The awareness and application of cannabinoids is growing steadily and this expansion is poised to continue. Gain current insight into the medicinal uses, intriguing treatments, and endless potential of these cannabis-derived compounds with an ongoing eye towards the future. As research expands and regulations relax, cannabinoid science and the medicinal promise they hold is sure to shape the industry moving forward. This panel will feature leading industry understanding into the exciting realms in which cannabinoids are headed.
